Don’t miss this years ‘South Shore Players’ Christmas production of our very own;
‘Desmond the Despicable’.
This is a brand new play written by Dave Brumwell, and brings the magical world of fantasy
and legend right to our Nova Scotian doorstep.
‘Desmond the Despicable’ is a semi-Pantomime / Musical and will involve the audience, as it
is they who decide the final outcome and thus the destiny of the characters, therefore making
each production unique.
The audience will be guided throughout the performance by ‘Merlin’, a larger than life character.
Legend has it that Merlin had the ability to change his shape and form, therefore he will appear
in many different guises.
Our story revolves around an ‘Otherworld’ community in Nova Scotia. The ‘Otherworld’ is a place
that the Celtic people believed existed and many myths and legends have been passed down into
folklore about this strange world that existed parallel to our own.
The tales the Celts told, spawned many great fantasy plays and movies like
‘King Arthur’, ‘The Lord of the Rings’ and ‘Narnia’, where our imagination
is allowed to run riot.
‘Desmond the Despicable’ will be interlaced with magic and fantasy,
featuring Merlin, King Arthur and many strange and zany characters,
like a large, male Fairy Godmother, The Light, a Wacky Psychiatrist
and an evil Troll, who believes he is a re-incarnation of Elvis Presley.
There will also be voice-overs by some international and local celebrities.
You’ll have to come along to find out who they are.
‘Desmond the Despicable’ is a ‘must see’ Christmas play for adults and children alike.
Anyone who has an imagination and a wish to immerse themselves in the wonderful world
of fantasy and fun for a couple of hours, will be able to say for the rest of their lives.
“I saw the very first production of &QOUT;Desmond the Despicable" at Lunenburg’s Pearl Theatre in 2007.
And always remember.
"ONLY THOSE WHO BELIEVE IN MAGIC, CAN EVER HOPE TO FIND IT". |
